I recently attended the Idaho Police Canine Association conference in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I’m also on the IPCA board. Sgt. Brett Schultz came to instruct a day of Legal regarding K9 Units, which included general 4th Amendment concerns and Idaho-specific cases and concerns. We asked Blue to Gold to send an instructor fairly last minute due to unforeseen circumstances with our planned trainer. Because of this, I was a bit nervous that whichever instructor was assigned would not be up to date and well versed in Idaho-specific K9 case law (Idaho has had some real bummer cases in the past few years). I was highly impressed with Brett. Even with the short notice, he was very knowledgeable with Idaho cases, as well as national cases. It was very clear he knows his case law and was able to advise on best practices with K9 Units. He was able to give relevant background information, case decisions, and advice on how to still do real police work while working within the decisions of these cases. Brett was personable, knowledgeable, and an all around excellent instructor. It is very clear that his K9 experience has given him a lot of skill and he had no problem sharing any and all of that with us. He was even able to ask about department policies and incorporate those into a discussion with the legal updates and 4th Amendment issues. I am sure his full class would be an excellent resource for any K9 handler of any experience level and I look forward to attending more classes in the future thanks to Brett. I would recommend him for any training or conference. Officer Ally Greenhalgh Rexburg Police Department Rexburg, Idaho
