John Cajacob, Attorney and Legal Instructor, brings more than a decade of combined law enforcement and legal experience to his work with Blue to Gold Law Enforcement Training. He has studied constitutional law for over 16 years and has delivered legal training to thousands of police officers. John is a licensed attorney and an active full time police sergeant in Minnesota, giving him daily insight into how legal standards apply to real world policing decisions.
He currently serves as a Sergeant with the St. Paul Police Department, where he has held key leadership and training roles. His assignments have included supervising in service training for a department of more than 600 officers, serving as an academy supervisor and recruit academy commander, and developing department wide curriculum on ethical policing. He is now assigned to the Special Operations Unit, overseeing officers tasked with managing civil unrest and complex public order situations. His patrol experience also includes time as a field training officer and SWAT operator.
In addition to his law enforcement career, John operates a law practice where he represents clients in both criminal and family law matters. He regularly teaches constitutional law, criminal procedure, and courtroom testimony to agencies throughout Minnesota and has worked as an instructor with Storm Training Group. His education includes a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, graduating Cum Laude. Agencies value his ability to clearly explain constitutional principles from the perspectives of a police supervisor, attorney, and instructor.
