Chance McClish, Legal Instructor for Blue to Gold Law Enforcement Training, brings more than two decades of operational and instructional experience from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to his work training officers. A Nevada native, Chance honorably retired in 2022 after nearly 23 years of service and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Nevada, Reno, along with Nevada POST Category I Advanced certification. His career reflects a deep and sustained focus on constitutional policing, particularly in the areas of search and seizure and use of force.
For over a decade, Chance served as the primary Fourth Amendment law instructor at the LVMPD Police Academy, where he authored and taught both Search and Seizure and Use of Force curricula. He was routinely tasked with developing and delivering instruction department wide and served on multiple committees responsible for search and seizure and use of force policy development. His experience also includes service as a federal Rule 30(b)(6) witness and extensive involvement in critical incident review and policy revision efforts, giving him firsthand insight into how training, policy, and officer actions are evaluated after major incidents.
In addition to his legal instruction, Chance held numerous advanced instructor roles within LVMPD, including defensive tactics, electronic control devices, DUI detection, de-escalation, and counter terrorism response. He has received multiple awards and commendations for his work, including the Medal of Honor and induction into the LVMPD Foundation Best of the Badge. Agencies value his depth of experience, credibility as a long time academy instructor, and his ability to clearly explain constitutional principles in a practical, officer focused manner.
