Jake Bigelow, Legal Instructor for Blue to Gold Law Enforcement Training, brings more than two decades of public safety experience to his work training law enforcement officers. His background spans military policing, emergency medical services, patrol operations, and advanced investigations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services and Paramedicine, giving him a strong foundation in both enforcement and emergency response decision making.
He currently serves as a Master Police Officer and Patrol Training Officer, with prior assignments that include Special Agent and Task Force Officer with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Throughout his career, he has held key instructional and leadership roles, including field training officer, patrol trainer, and departmental instructor. He has been directly responsible for training officers on state and federal law, with a particular emphasis on search and seizure, and has been designated to review agency policy, procedures, and internal investigations related to Fourth Amendment issues.
In addition to his legal instruction, Jake has extensive specialized training across a wide range of enforcement disciplines, including drug recognition, DUI investigations, interrogation, crash investigation, and critical incident response. He also oversees his agency’s unmanned aircraft systems program, managing policy development, training, and operational deployment. Agencies value his broad operational background, practical teaching style, and ability to connect constitutional principles to real world patrol and investigative work.
