Blue to Gold has really set a near unattainable bar for every law enforcement class I’ll ever take in the future. Instructor McFarlin is easily one of the best instructors I’ve ever had (including my college education). He made complicated concepts, simple. He was very approachable, invited questions, made it ok to not know an answer (or say a wrong one), but always eager to follow up with the correct answer, and more importantly, eager to explain why. No matter how much experience everyone in the class had, Instructor McFarlin expertly dismantled barriers and potential egos allowing for a very welcoming classroom experience. Pretty darn good refresher for myself as an investigator. This training was certainly geared for Road Patrol but a lot of material could be used in Investigations also.

While this was a refresher course for me, there were still things I learned. I liked the way the instructor used examples which is good for clarification on issues.
Chris was able to break things down into terms and diagrams that I had not seen before. The open dialogue also allowed for multiple questions on a wide range of topics. I just completed the Blue to Gold Traffic Stop and Arrest, Search, and Seizure course at my agency. What an absolutely phenomenonal course. Our Advanced Search and Seizure training is designed to equip officers with the knowledge and skills they need to independently analyze and solve Fourth Amendment problems, leading to a reduction in lawsuits and the ability to establish good case law. By the end of this course, students will have a solid understanding of when the Fourth Amendment applies, the requirement of consent, recognized exceptions, and the necessity of a warrant for every search or seizure. This was one of the best courses I have ever taken. It should be a must for every cop out there. Anthony made it extremely easy to comprehend the things he was teaching. He took a topic that is usually very dry when taught and made it engaging and enjoyable.

How often do you encounter curriculum with dated case law and it's presented as the latest and greatest? Not this course, the references here are absolutely relevant and up to date as of Oct 2023. (course was taken 5/24). The course was well presented and clearly articulated the material in a manner such that I could work patrol tonight and put the lessons learned into practice. I'll approach curtilage with a newfound appreciation and always bring my C.R.E.W. With me.

This was a great course- building upon principles which everyday officers are enacting. The knowledge gained clarifies the ability and understanding of the “why” officers do certain things, and the “how” to properly do them; avoiding liability and penalty.

Mr. Biggs recently taught the advanced search and seizure class in Gillette, WY and as a whole I think the common opinion of Mr Biggs was "wow, he can teach, and this class is entertaining, informative, and he's a really cool guy." He gave ample examples, was clearly knowledgeable on the subjects and super thorough. He gained everybody's respect in a matter of minutes and I think from here on out we will all think back to this class and what Mr. Biggs taught us throughout our careers. It is rare to find people who are passionate for what they do and that care and especially who can teach the subject well. You have a great instructor and he needed credit where credits was due!

Advanced Search and Seizure: the course and instructor were excellent. I’m a self-proclaimed 4th Amendment nerd and place a high value on protecting peoples’ rights. This class gave me a better understanding of some case law I did not have confidence in. In this profession, you need to know the “why” behind your action or inaction and if you are unsure about where your legal authority begins and ends, I recommend this course. Do not trust the old-timers in your agency that have been around for decades. Know current case law and trust yourself and your education. This course is awesome.

The Search and Seizure class was amazing and I wish this class and the information that was covered was apart of my academy training. I have a more fluid understanding now then before taking the class.
The course was great because of all the case law review and application to real world scenarios, including those offered by the class. It’s nice to confirm our authority in some grey areas as well as to see how small difference in details can make otherwise similar situations vastly different when it comes to constitutional violations or not.
I really appreciate the level of knowledge and passion they share in the Advanced Search and Seizure course. I believe this course gives me the tools and training to be successful in my day to day work that is not available to me at my current agency.

I recently had the opportunity to attend the search and seizure class, and I must say it was an eye-opening experience. As a supervisor, I found this course invaluable in providing new insights on how to ensure our deputies respect and uphold individuals’ civil rights during law enforcement activities. I firmly believe that this class should be a fundamental part of every deputy’s training within the first year of their career. The instructor’s expertise and teaching style were exceptional. Not only was he highly knowledgeable about the subject matter, but he also managed to make the learning process engaging and entertaining. His approach to the topic kept the class both informative and enjoyable.

I think the quality of the class was good and went in depth with Case Law backed material. Instructor was wonderful and communicated. Questions were answered and attention to students was great. I would've liked a little information on potential issues regarding data and computer/phone devices.

Most legal updates are boring and dry, and death by PowerPoint. John kept me focused, and presented the material appropriately. It was a good refresher, and answered questions I had.
It was engaging environment to learn. It was great overview of case law, and pertinent Colorado specific case law.
I've always loved Blue to Gold's videos and free classes. I got into them because Bandiero used to work at my agency. I read Nevada Search and Seizure cover to cover a couple times and scored top for detective testing out of around 12 people. Not a lot for most agencies but still significant for us. I attribute that scoring to Blue to Gold's book. I constantly am loaning out my books to people who want to advance themselves and encourage everyone else to get them too. They are a cops biggest tool for in the field and career development. The instructor for this class is super knowledgeable and being that he used to be a cop, makes him relatable to us. Not just some attorney. Online training is tough but he and his team are doing a great job addressing questions from in person and online students.

Advanced search and seizure was a very good class for patrol officers. We went over case law pertinent to the jobs. I will be re-teaching some of this material to new officers in FTO.
I just completed the Blue to Gold Traffic Stop and Arrest, Search, and Seizure course at my agency. What an absolutely phenomenonal course. I have learned more in the past two days than I did in my Police Academy. The course content was extremely applicable to our daily tasks on the street. This course is simple to understand and not overly complicated. It helped me understand traffic stops and applying the 4th Amendment in order to remain constitutional. I have a great understanding of this course and believe this course should be given to newer and experienced officers to expand their training and knowledge.

This course does a great job on expanding basic knowledge on traffic stop legality. Great breakdown of legal points involving traffic stops. The case law associated with each module is a great touch.

Great course. This was very informative.
I've been in law enforcement for 9 years now, spending the last few as an investigator. What these Blue to Gold courses are teaching me is that LEOs should be getting far more training on the law and how it can work in their favor. It's taken me this long to learn how to properly apply Miranda yet ensure that application does not destroy my investigation. Same goes for search and seizure. LEOs should be just as up to speed on case law as our DAs. This was a great course!

Amazing course. The instructor provides many details over subjects that are routine in everyday law enforcement and should be considered "Basic knowledge." but explains each topic in ways that help officers actually understand the legal reasons why they can/can't do something.
This course really enlightened me and I learned a lot of small tidbits that will help me out on the streets.

As a newer officer, this lesson answered many questions for me. Some of the information given (with case law to support) even corrects what some of my senior officers have told me is illegal (not against policy, but illegal). I would HIGHLY recommend this class to any offclicer - new, through Admin.

This 8-hour class is amazing. It is broken down into different lessons and each lesson was very informative and included case law, video break-downs/discussions and real-life scenarios. This class also has assessments after the lessons to keep the learner engaged in the class. This class is very informative and all encompassing on topics like, single purpose container doctrine, collective knowledge doctrine, how to improve your undercover investigations, use of CI's, and much more!
Excellent coverage of subject matters especially breaking down into easily understandable terminology and concepts. Will for sure be doing more on demand courses in the future.

I just completed a two-day training in Advanced Search and Seizure and Advanced Criminal Investigations in Jackson, WY. This was by far the most entertaining and knowledgeable training I have attended in my short three years of Law Enforcement. Anthony Bandiero is very intelligent and I hope more law enforcement agencies seek him out to expand their knowledge.
