This is the most in depth training that I have ever received on Duty to Intervene. At the end of the training there was no question on if, when, why, or how you should Intervene. Videos and presentation was immaculate.
Great block of instruction on Search and Seizure. Not only is the material current and applicable, but John is an excellent instructor, keeping the class engaged, especially to a bunch of cops. His knowledge of case law is on par with Dale Anderson for any of the IL cops who've attended his classes. Would definitely recommend attending the class.

In 18 years of law enforcement, I have been through a few classes. As an instructor, I have also taught a few. John is a first class instructor. The content was informative, and applicable to the laws of our state. John is definitely an expert in his field. From the newest Officer, to the oldest, all of us came away better informed and capable to do our jobs better.

He is a great instructor who keeps the class engaged and he has recently taken time to help review our inventory policy, which was very helpful! Blue to gold is the gold standard of law enforcement training.

I took Advanced Search and Seizure and Advanced Traffic Stops with John. As we all know, Washington state is very restrictive with police affairs. I attended the advanced search and seizure course with John Wiehn. He did a great job explaining different case laws to us and making sure we had an understanding of everything he was teaching us. Every law enforcement professional should take this course. We are all one call away from being case law ourselves and this course will protect you from that. Even though John is an attorney he keeps the class interesting and encourages questions as he was a cop himself not that long ago.

I took the 4-day session including Search & Seizure, Traffic Stops/Searches, Search Warrants, and Interviews & Interrogations, and I honestly was not prepared for how much I had to learn. Being in law enforcement for 10 years and still having so many questions makes me wish I had access to or knew about this training earlier on, however I am grateful that I had the chance to take these courses! The topics are clear and relevant, the instructor (John) was relatable, funny, and extremely knowledgeable, and he was able to answer any outstanding questions I had. I am much more confident in these areas and have a greater understanding of the legal responsibilities I have in this profession and am very grateful that this training is available! VERY highly recommended!
Advanced Traffic Stops This course had great content and a breakdown of legal theories. The case law references were applicable and backed the topics covered. Our instructor, John, is very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Advanced criminal investigations, as part of my job I evaluate curriculum and instructional materials, this is a nearly flawless way to present this, John Wiehn has mastered the art of edutainment.

I really enjoyed what the class had to offer. The report writing classes I’ve had are no more than 2 hours long and this was really in-depth. This class also explained the legality side of how your report can cause you to have a hard day in court. I learned a ton and hope to share everything I learned with my agency and fellow Deputies. As a new officer, this course was exactly what I needed (and exactly what my FTO who recommended Blue to Gold described). It helped me put all the pieces I was trained in together and then tested my knowledge against real-world scenarios. Overall, excellent training and very helpful. How often do you encounter curriculum with dated case law and it's presented as the latest and greatest? Not this course, the references here are absolutely relevant and up to date as of Oct 2023. (course was taken 5/24). The course was well presented and clearly articulated the material in a manner such that I could work patrol tonight and put the lessons learned into practice. I'll approach curtilage with a newfound appreciation and always bring my C.R.E.W. With me.

Mr. Biggs recently taught the advanced search and seizure class in Gillette, WY and as a whole I think the common opinion of Mr Biggs was "wow, he can teach, and this class is entertaining, informative, and he's a really cool guy." He gave ample examples, was clearly knowledgeable on the subjects and super thorough. He gained everybody's respect in a matter of minutes and I think from here on out we will all think back to this class and what Mr. Biggs taught us throughout our careers. It is rare to find people who are passionate for what they do and that care and especially who can teach the subject well. You have a great instructor and he needed credit where credits was due!

I attended the 8-hour Advanced Search and Seizure class in person. I have attended a lot of outside training and this class was by far the best class I have ever taken. I learned so much more in this class about search and seizure than I did in the police academy. The instructor was professional, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. Advanced Search and Seizure: the course and instructor were excellent. I’m a self-proclaimed 4th Amendment nerd and place a high value on protecting peoples’ rights. This class gave me a better understanding of some case law I did not have confidence in. In this profession, you need to know the “why” behind your action or inaction and if you are unsure about where your legal authority begins and ends, I recommend this course. Do not trust the old-timers in your agency that have been around for decades. Know current case law and trust yourself and your education. This course is awesome.

The course was great because of all the case law review and application to real world scenarios, including those offered by the class. It’s nice to confirm our authority in some grey areas as well as to see how small difference in details can make otherwise similar situations vastly different when it comes to constitutional violations or not.

Most legal updates are boring and dry, and death by PowerPoint. John kept me focused, and presented the material appropriately. It was a good refresher, and answered questions I had.
It was engaging environment to learn. It was great overview of case law, and pertinent Colorado specific case law.
I've always loved Blue to Gold's videos and free classes. I got into them because Bandiero used to work at my agency. I read Nevada Search and Seizure cover to cover a couple times and scored top for detective testing out of around 12 people. Not a lot for most agencies but still significant for us. I attribute that scoring to Blue to Gold's book. I constantly am loaning out my books to people who want to advance themselves and encourage everyone else to get them too. They are a cops biggest tool for in the field and career development. The instructor for this class is super knowledgeable and being that he used to be a cop, makes him relatable to us. Not just some attorney. Online training is tough but he and his team are doing a great job addressing questions from in person and online students.

When I was forced to complete this training I was a little annoyed I had to watch 4 hours worth of video. As the training went on I actually learned a lot. This course was actually very good. I went into it with low expectations because web-based training can be rough, however, the instructor was engaging, articulate, funny, and on point. The videos were great. The subject's relevance to current events was definitely helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone in need of some good de-escalation training.

Another great set of classes. We are mandated to take de-escalation and duty to intervene classes here, but BtG made a very dry subject into one that was not only palatable but enjoyable! John Wiehn was an excellent instructor and an expert on the subject matter. Plenty of good videos and cop anecdotes kept things engaging as well. 10/10 would go to any BtG training if they are as good as these two classes.

I was a part of the de-escalation training module. It was absolutely outstanding, the instructor was highly knowledgeable and easy to follow along with. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Real World De-escalation: Incredibly relevant and applicable. It’s great to hear this sort of training from those who have backgrounds as LE and attorneys.
I’m still quite new to law enforcement so sitting in the de-escalation class was very informative. It explains some ways that I can better explain things to try and de-escalate a situation. However, it also explains that not all situations are able to be de-escalated. Which made me feel more confident in judging if a situation will be able to be de-escalated or not.
De-escalation This class was incredible. I really appreciated the videos that incorporated real-life situations in which the techniques were applied. Our instructor did an awesome job conveying the material.

Good class about de-escalation
This de-escalation class greatly helped in reviewing and informing officers of great de-escalation tactics to employ and the situations in which they should be employed. The instructor did a great job at presenting the material and showed videos that provided conversations and how they relate to the de-escalation principles.
De-escalation class. The class was very in-depth in providing step-by-step processes to effectively de-escalate and non-escalate some situations that it is appropriate to utilize. The instructor having both LE and legal experience provided two different points of view on situations that are pivotal in how situations can proceed.

I am a supervisory special agent with the FDA Office of Criminal Investigations assigned to Headquarters. Our office recently acquired your training portals regarding Duty to Intervene and Real World De-escalation. I have been a federal law enforcement officer for 33 years- and I want to express my appreciation for a very well-put-together program. Things have changed over the time I have served in law enforcement and I think your program effectively confronts the issues that we as law enforcement professionals must cope with. I am assigned to headquarters, but some of the things you address (especially in the Real World De-escalation portal) are measures that I can consider practicing with the management of my own staff in the office setting.
