In 18 years of law enforcement, I have been through a few classes. As an instructor, I have also taught a few. John is a first class instructor. The content was informative, and applicable to the laws of our state. John is definitely an expert in his field. Great class. Not only a refresher for the basics that are necessary for police work, but also expanded knowledge for what we are capable and not capable of searching.

I have attended three classes with John (report writing, mastering search and seizure and search warrants. He is a great instructor who keeps the class engaged and he has recently taken time to help review our inventory policy, which was very helpful! Blue to gold is the gold standard of law enforcement training.
John is very knowledgeable. Every question and hypothetical we could think of he gave us an in depth answer supported by case law. I have learned so much and really enjoyed picking his brain. This training is a must for all agencies .

I had the pleasure of being taught by John from Blue to Gold during a recent training session held in Greer, South Carolina. I took Advanced Search and Seizure and Advanced Traffic Stops with John. As we all know, Washington state is very restrictive with police affairs. John dove deep into case law to provide Officers with more tools, and dispel commonly accepted beliefs regarding WA laws. And he did so in a fun and captivating manner. I attended the advanced search and seizure course with John Wiehn. He did a great job explaining different case laws to us and making sure we had an understanding of everything he was teaching us. Every law enforcement professional should take this course. We are all one call away from being case law ourselves and this course will protect you from that. Even though John is an attorney he keeps the class interesting and encourages questions as he was a cop himself not that long ago.

I took the 4-day session including Search & Seizure, Traffic Stops/Searches, Search Warrants, and Interviews & Interrogations, and I honestly was not prepared for how much I had to learn. Being in law enforcement for 10 years and still having so many questions makes me wish I had access to or knew about this training earlier on, however I am grateful that I had the chance to take these courses! The topics are clear and relevant, the instructor (John) was relatable, funny, and extremely knowledgeable, and he was able to answer any outstanding questions I had. I am much more confident in these areas and have a greater understanding of the legal responsibilities I have in this profession and am very grateful that this training is available! VERY highly recommended!
Advanced Traffic Stops This course had great content and a breakdown of legal theories. The case law references were applicable and backed the topics covered. Our instructor, John, is very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Advanced criminal investigations, as part of my job I evaluate curriculum and instructional materials, this is a nearly flawless way to present this, John Wiehn has mastered the art of edutainment.

I really enjoyed what the class had to offer. The report writing classes I’ve had are no more than 2 hours long and this was really in-depth. This class also explained the legality side of how your report can cause you to have a hard day in court. I learned a ton and hope to share everything I learned with my agency and fellow Deputies. This course gives the learner a new look on curtilage, consent, warrantless home entries and much more. All around a great and informative course of the Fourth Amendment and how to effectively use the Fourth Amendment in our favor through articulation.
This was one of the best courses I have ever taken. It should be a must for every cop out there. Anthony made it extremely easy to comprehend the things he was teaching. He took a topic that is usually very dry when taught and made it engaging and enjoyable.

How often do you encounter curriculum with dated case law and it's presented as the latest and greatest? Not this course, the references here are absolutely relevant and up to date as of Oct 2023. (course was taken 5/24). The course was well presented and clearly articulated the material in a manner such that I could work patrol tonight and put the lessons learned into practice. I'll approach curtilage with a newfound appreciation and always bring my C.R.E.W. With me.

Mr. Biggs recently taught the advanced search and seizure class in Gillette, WY and as a whole I think the common opinion of Mr Biggs was "wow, he can teach, and this class is entertaining, informative, and he's a really cool guy." He gave ample examples, was clearly knowledgeable on the subjects and super thorough. He gained everybody's respect in a matter of minutes and I think from here on out we will all think back to this class and what Mr. Biggs taught us throughout our careers. It is rare to find people who are passionate for what they do and that care and especially who can teach the subject well. You have a great instructor and he needed credit where credits was due!

I attended the 8-hour Advanced Search and Seizure class in person. I have attended a lot of outside training and this class was by far the best class I have ever taken. The course was presented in an easy-to-digest way. Slides and topics were organized and easy to follow and provided good information that can be used going forward. The instructor was knowledgeable regarding USSC case law and explained cases and decisions clearly without creating confusion. The instructor also used video vignettes to help illustrate the points made.

Advanced Search and Seizure: the course and instructor were excellent. I’m a self-proclaimed 4th Amendment nerd and place a high value on protecting peoples’ rights. This class gave me a better understanding of some case law I did not have confidence in. In this profession, you need to know the “why” behind your action or inaction and if you are unsure about where your legal authority begins and ends, I recommend this course. Do not trust the old-timers in your agency that have been around for decades. Know current case law and trust yourself and your education. This course is awesome.

The Search and Seizure class was amazing and I wish this class and the information that was covered was apart of my academy training. I have a more fluid understanding now then before taking the class.
The course was great because of all the case law review and application to real world scenarios, including those offered by the class. It’s nice to confirm our authority in some grey areas as well as to see how small difference in details can make otherwise similar situations vastly different when it comes to constitutional violations or not.

I think the quality of the class was good and went in depth with Case Law backed material. Instructor was wonderful and communicated. Questions were answered and attention to students was great. I would've liked a little information on potential issues regarding data and computer/phone devices.

Most legal updates are boring and dry, and death by PowerPoint. John kept me focused, and presented the material appropriately. It was a good refresher, and answered questions I had.
It was engaging environment to learn. It was great overview of case law, and pertinent Colorado specific case law.
I've always loved Blue to Gold's videos and free classes. I got into them because Bandiero used to work at my agency. I read Nevada Search and Seizure cover to cover a couple times and scored top for detective testing out of around 12 people. Not a lot for most agencies but still significant for us. I attribute that scoring to Blue to Gold's book. I constantly am loaning out my books to people who want to advance themselves and encourage everyone else to get them too. They are a cops biggest tool for in the field and career development. The instructor for this class is super knowledgeable and being that he used to be a cop, makes him relatable to us. Not just some attorney. Online training is tough but he and his team are doing a great job addressing questions from in person and online students.

Advanced search and seizure was a very good class for patrol officers. We went over case law pertinent to the jobs. I will be re-teaching some of this material to new officers in FTO.
I just completed the Blue to Gold Traffic Stop and Arrest, Search, and Seizure course at my agency. What an absolutely phenomenonal course. I have learned more in the past two days than I did in my Police Academy. The course content was extremely applicable to our daily tasks on the street. I've been in law enforcement for 9 years now, spending the last few as an investigator. What these Blue to Gold courses are teaching me is that LEOs should be getting far more training on the law and how it can work in their favor. It's taken me this long to learn how to properly apply Miranda yet ensure that application does not destroy my investigation. Same goes for search and seizure. LEOs should be just as up to speed on case law as our DAs. This was a great course!

Amazing course. The instructor provides many details over subjects that are routine in everyday law enforcement and should be considered "Basic knowledge." but explains each topic in ways that help officers actually understand the legal reasons why they can/can't do something.
This course really enlightened me and I learned a lot of small tidbits that will help me out on the streets.
